PRP vs. Stem Cells: What Actually Speeds Up Your Skin’s Recovery After Microneedling

If you have looked into microneedling recovery boosters, you have probably come across two very different approaches: PRP and stem cell therapy. Both promise faster healing and better results, but they work in fundamentally different ways, and the difference matters more than most people realize.

At Complete Dentistry, we have moved away from PRP for our microneedling and Exion patients in favor of stem cell derived regenerative therapies. Here is why we made that choice, and what it means for your recovery and results.

What PRP Actually Is

PRP, or platelet rich plasma, comes from your own blood. A small sample is drawn, spun in a centrifuge to concentrate the platelets, and then applied to your skin during or after your treatment. The idea is that your own platelets contain growth factors that can support healing.

The catch is that PRP is only as strong as the patient providing it. Your platelets reflect your current health, age, and lifestyle. If you are not at your healthiest, your PRP may not carry the same regenerative punch as someone in peak condition. It also requires a blood draw, a centrifuge, and processing time in the treatment room, which adds an extra step most patients would rather skip.

Why We Use Stem Cell Therapy Instead

Rather than relying on a patient’s own biology, we use regenerative products developed by Vitti Labs, an AATB accredited, cGMP certified, FDA registered tissue bank. These products are sourced from birth tissue, meaning they come from newborn origin material rather than an adult donor, which is where the idea of “zero age” comes from. The cells have not gone through decades of environmental stress, so they carry a different quality of regenerative signaling than anything an adult body can produce on its own.

We currently offer two tiers.

  • VITTI-PURE, our luxury option, is designed to support the body’s whole system regenerative processes and pairs well with a premium recovery protocol following microneedling.
  • NS PURE, our premium option, provides advanced biologic signaling factors that support the body’s natural healing response, positioned for patients who want an elevated adjunctive option alongside their in-office skin treatment.

Both arrive cryogenically frozen and are thawed just before your appointment, then applied topically once microneedling has created the tiny channels needed for the product to absorb.

How This Changes Your Recovery

Because these therapies are not limited by your own health status the way PRP is, they offer a more consistent experience regardless of age or wellness level. That consistency is a meaningful advantage if you are looking for reliable, repeatable results every time you come in for treatment. Recent research on stem cell derived exosomes, a key component of this type of regenerative therapy, has shown they can accelerate wound healing and skin regeneration by supporting the biological mechanisms involved in cutaneous repair, according to a review published in the World Journal of Stem Cells.

These regenerative products are also being explored for uses beyond aesthetics, including recovery support after Emface wellness treatments and other facial rejuvenation protocols. Whichever tier fits your goals, the aim is the same: supporting your skin’s own recovery process rather than asking your body to do all the work alone.

Is This Right for You?

If you are considering microneedling, Exion treatments, or another aesthetic procedure and want to know whether a stem cell adjunctive protocol makes sense for your goals, that decision should start with a real conversation, not guesswork. Your provider will look at your health history, your treatment plan, and what you are hoping to achieve before recommending VITTI-PURE, NS PURE, or neither.

Complete Dentistry Is Here to Help

We built our aesthetics program around the idea that recovery should not be left to chance, which is part of why we moved beyond PRP toward regenerative therapies designed to perform consistently for every patient. Our team stays current on advancements like these so that when you come in for microneedling or another treatment, you are getting an approach backed by real research and careful sourcing, not just what has always been done.

If you are curious whether VITTI-PURE or NS PURE could enhance your next treatment, we would love to talk it through with you. Reach out through our contact form and our team will help you figure out the best path for your skin and your goals.
